Nashville Engagement Photo Styles
Nashville Engagement Photography – Affordable :: Styles and Formats
Unique and Personalized engagement photography for each couple
The aim of Nashville Wedding Photography is to get to know the engaged couple and their wishes regarding their wedding photography and match it with our specific style of shooting. There are three main styles of shooting we have defined and use. In describing the differences in the styles of shooting, the engaged couple will know which style may fit their preferences. The three formats are: Guided, Photojournalistic and Combined.
Whichever photographic style the engaged couple choose for their engagement shoot, Nashville Wedding Photography always makes sure that those “in between moments” that are often overlooked during the event is recorded for posterity. Our camera are always ready to shoot fleeting moments, those expressions just after a pose, quiet moments between the couple, the special time when the bridegroom-to-be whispers something in his fiancée’s ear, or those intimate glances between the couple when they think no one is looking. Those moments are special and we are always on the alert for those shots regardless of the engagement style we were hired for. Whatever style you choose for your shoot, the personal candid photos will be shot and gorgeously produced.
1. Guided Wedding Engagement Photography Session
The Guided Wedding Engagement Photography Session recognizes the fact that many couples and their entourage are not sure what to do and how to act when the camera lens is pointed at them. So this session mainly relies on the direction and input of the photographer. Direct collaboration is made with the couple to get familiar with the location of the engagement shoot; then from the beginning of the session, we provide guidance to the couple as they go through each shot. We show them how to pose for the traditional photos and those shots they want that we have previously discussed. When we get booked for an engagement photography session, we familiarize ourselves with the individual personality of the couple, learn their likes and dislikes and take note of the style they want. When the shooting begins, we are able to help find the poses and scenes that fit in with the couple’s distinct taste and personality. The session is generally guided and the final images are traditional in nature with carefully posed shots. But in addition, we capture some candid shots and add a few creative photojournalistic shots to complete the mix. However, pictures of guided sessions are generally traditional and posed.
2. Photojournalistic Wedding Engagement Photography SessionOur style at Nashville Wedding Photography always veers towards the photojournalistic genre, where the photographer has little involvement in the poses or arrangement of the subject matter. The photojournalistic engagement session is usually done where the couple has a sentimental attachment or specific place or location that they choose to have their engagement photos taken. In this session, the couple generally goes about their business and acts in a normal manner while the photographer continues shooting the scenes. The photographer works in the background and capture shots as if on the outside looking in. The couple ignores the photographer and acts in a completely natural manner like they are going for a walk or stroll through the grounds. This is best done using a telephoto lens, where the photographer stands around 10-30 yards away from the couple, capturing them in intimate and private moments. Spontaneous and candid shots are easily acquired in this session because the couple feel connected and isolated enough, undisturbed by any direction from the stalking photographer.
3. Combined Wedding Engagement Photography Session

The Combined Wedding Engagement Photography Session is our most popular format for a photography session. We find that it is the most interesting and lots of fun to shoot as we learn more about the couple during this kind of shoot. A longer engagement session is generally required for this type of shoot because we are both using Guided and Photojournalistic photography. The photographer needs extra time to guide the couple to do their poses, and then catch candid shots between the posed pictures. Time is needed between poses so that the couple will get relaxed enough for the candid facial expressions. There are times when we do the photo shoot in a few different locations that are special to the couple. They will then have different looks and wardrobe changes to make their album more interesting. Examples of these sessions are locations where couples first met, where they had their first kiss, where the future bridegroom asked the lady to marry him, or a place that is sentimental to them. Due to the time factor and the flexibility of this type of session, the photographer gets to know the couple better before the actual wedding; while the couple gets the options and choices for their engagement photos.
